The UoA Public Policy Club

We are a non-partisan club that aims to involve students from all backgrounds in the education and development of political knowledge. We have a specific focus on increasing youth engagement in politics by encouraging and educating youth to discover their political voices.

This is our content website where we post about election information, policy and social issues generally. Our content team of 5 hardworking and passionate PPC delegates work under our two content team leaders to sift through party policy and news, and condense it in a format that students can read.

Because we are non-partisan, and our team takes special care to ensure the posts are free from bias, you can read away with no worries! Our pledge to you is that we take information directly from party websites as much as possible and that our leaders check for accuracy and loaded language before posting. While different organisations sponsor our events, it is integral to us that our policy content on this website is not influenced by these sponsors. We take our role of providing young people with information free from any political agenda very seriously. Please contact us if you have any concerns or suggestions so we can ensure we're doing a good job for you!

In 2017, we are launching a series of voting initiatives designed to get people thinking about the key issues in the election, and to encourage them to show up and vote on election day. A specific initiative includes our civic engagement programme where a PPC team visits year 13 students at low decile schools to talk about the importance of voting and to encourage them to get involved. The Club is also involved in hosting more serious policy events to help students delve into the issues more deeply, and to provide an opportunity for students to meet and network with key public sector experts. We have hosted a Speaker Series on Auckland Transport that was created in association with Russell McVeagh and MartinJenkins. We are yet to host our final Speaker Series of the year on water later this semester.
